Subject area The subject area encompasses the investigation of molecular and cellular processes underlying interactions between plants and organisms attacking them. The research programs are expected to have direct relevance for breeding of crops or trees resistant to attacking organisms. Duties The holder of this position will play an important role in the departmental mission to support agriculture and forestry through the advancement of basic knowledge about plant development and defence. The appointed professor is expected to develop and lead a strong, internationally competitive and externally funded research program in Molecular Plant – Pest/Disease Interactions supporting the development of increased resistance to organisms attacking crops or trees. The successful applicant is expected to collaborate effectively with other research groups within the department, at the BioCenter and within the faculty (see information panel on the left) to further strengthen SLU’s outstanding, highly integrated and globally recognized plant protection research community. In addition to research excellence, the advertised position requires dedication to the supervision of PhD students, as well as to teaching plant molecular biology or related topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
