Description
The position is available starting February 2010 for a period of 2 years. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct her or his research in close collaboration with the groups of C. Giefing (Intercell, Vienna, Austria), I. Julkunen (THL, Finland), S. Knapp (CEMM, Vienna, Austria), P. Kovarik (MFPL, Vienna, Austria) and C. Poyart (INSERM, Institut Cochin, Paris, France) within the European ERA-NET PathoGenoMics Network.
The proposed project consists of the identification and characterization of components of Streptococcus pyogenes that are responsible for triggering innate immune responses in macrophages. The project is part of the ERA-NET PathoGenoMics project entitled “Mechanisms and modulation of innate immune responses to Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae”. The new lab of E. Charpentier in Sweden belongs to the MIMS (The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) within the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine). MIMS constitutes the Swedish node within the Nordic partnership for Molecular Medicine that is formed together with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Finland and Norway nodes. MIMS is established within the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR).
